History

Celebrating the Montessori Philosophy Since 1991

Heartwood Village Montessori was created in 2021 as an extension of Heartwood Montessori School, which closed in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 virus. The original school was founded in 1991 by Sue Daniel, Thelma Williams, and Mary McKinney.  The leaders sold the school and retired right before the pandemic fully hit the United States.  The new owners decided not to reopen the school, so Sue Daniel came out of retirement to keep the same teachers and families together if possible. This dedicated group of educators wanted to again create a school that followed the Montessori philosophy in an environment that was a loving, safe place for their students, parents, and teachers alike.  Heartwood Village continues to place the needs of our students first.  Our community of teachers, students and parents is very important to us.

Heartwood Village Montessori is co-owned and operated by Sue Daniel and Katherine Perretta.  Katherine Perretta attended Heartwood Montessori as a child and returned as a parent in 2017. She is committed to the Heartwood community and is excited to become a part of the Heartwood Village team.
