History

Celebrating the Montessori Philosophy Since 1991

Heartwood Montessori School was founded in 1991 by 3-6 teacher Sue Daniel, 6-9 teacher Thelma Williams, and office manager Mary McKinney.  This dedicated group of educators wanted to create a school that followed the Montessori philosophy in an environment that was a loving, safe place for their students, parents, and teachers alike.

In the years since, Heartwood has continued to place the needs of our students first. We have grown to become a community of roughly 180 students and their families, and we pride ourselves on the fulfillment of our founding principles. Our community of teachers, students and parents is very important to us.
