Admissions and Availability

We are often operating on a wait list so we encourage families to get their applications in as soon as they know they are interested. Applications are held until after the February re-enrollment period for our current families and will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Siblings of currently enrolled students and children of staff members are given first priority.
  • Heartwood attempts to achieve an equal number of boys and girls and an age range balance in each classroom
  • Consideration is given to previous Montessori experience.
  • New applications are reviewed in the order in which they were received.

Once the re-enrollment process has been completed the first wave of new applicants will receive notification via email that there is a spot available for them. These applicants will have one week to decline or secure their child’s spot with a deposit. Once that one week period is over, and if any spots remain unfilled, the second wave of applicants will be notified and given a one week period to respond.

It is important to note that we do not accept the application fee until after you receive your email notification inviting you to join the Heartwood community.

Everyone who has submitted an application will be notified by the end of March. Please feel free to call before then if you have any questions about the enrollment process.

Applications for Enrollment can be faxed to 919-461-8386 or mailed to the school, 112 Bryum Street, Cary, NC 27511. You are also more than welcome to drop by and pick an application up or drop one off at the office.
