High School Overview

High School Program

High School is currently not available for  21-22

Grades 9-12, Ages 15-18

Our high school program is a college preparation program.  We base our curriculum offerings on what is required to get into a UNC school.  Math is taught on an individual basis.  English is offered according to the needs of the enrolled students.  Sciences and Social Studies/History rotate such that each student gets all of their required credits needed to graduate.  Electives change according to student enrollment.

Although our high school is run in a more “traditional” way with grades and G.P.A’s, we still hold true to the basic Montessori principles.  We continue fostering independence, responsibility and personal accountability.  We focus on the whole child, being sensitive to the ever-changing sense of self and place in society that marks young adults of these ages.  We encourage a strong sense of community and social responsibility.  Our work is typically research and project based, with the expectation of a polished final product.

We hope that through individual and group projects our students learn how to approach novel problems with inventive minds as well as having excellent skills in analysis and critical thinking. It is our intention to graduate students who are prepared to go out in the world and create wonderful things that benefit many.
