Global Arts Project 2008
Heartwood Montessori has joined the Global Arts project 2008 to promote worldwide peace. Four classes at Heartwood Montessori are involved in creating art work for this worldwide project. GAP is an international organization whose mission is to spread world wide peace by promoting tolerance and non-violence through art.
Each participating group creates works of art expressing our vision of global peace and goodwill. These art projects will be exchanged with a group or individual in another part of the world during the week of April 23rd.
Heartwood students have spent the month of March planning and creating four group projects. The children are excited and the projects have great meaning to them. We are participating in this project as one aspect of our Peace Curriculum, an integral part of Montessori education. The artwork will be on display at Heartwood from April 9th to the 16th. We are looking forward to receiving projects from a participating group and will display that artwork when we receive it.
We invite the community to view our project during the week of April 9th! Heartwood is located in downtown Cary at 112 Byrum Street.
The Global Arts Project began in 1994 and has linked 78,000 participants on seven continents. For more information on GAP see their website: www.globalartproject.org
