What I learned at Heartwood this year by Samantha

I have learned many things in school this year. I've learned geometry, racks and tubes, and much more. My favorite thing was long division. I like long division because it has a lot of zeros in it, which I think is funny. School is one of the things that I am very fond of. When I first went to school I was scared, but now when I get ready in the morning, I'm glad!

My teachers, Ms. Sue and Ms. Marlene, taught me a lot of the stuff that I know! For example, the golden bead frame. Heartwood Montessori gets me a lot smarter than I was before. I also learned about the timeline and how to swim. I learned the most about math which includes word problems. I love to do extra homework, like two or three pages a day. You can check your own work (which I also learned), for example 342 + 421 = 763 and 421 - 763 = -458, see? We learn a lot about angles in geometry. Sometimes you can make mistakes in negatives, like I might have done!

In school I learned how to spell "laboratory," and some other hard words I didn't know how to spell at the beginning. I've learned french words like "bonjour," meaning "hello." "Jai sept auns" means "I've seven years," in french and rouge (red), orange (orange), jaune (yellow), vert (green), bleu (blue), noir (black), brun (brown), gris (grey), blanc (white), and multicolour are the colors in french!

I've learned how to make pottery and sculptures in art class with Ms. Jayne. And I've learned about nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, article, and adverbs. Also, I've learned how to make scrambled eggs, pancakes, peanut-butter marshmellow sandwiches and other stuff on a pan! I have also learned the parts of a fern, pine tree and other stuff. But now it's time for summer vacation and I'm really glad and partly sad!!!
