Heartwood’s 25th Anniversary

Cheers to 25 Years!

Student Art Silent Auction Plaque Presentation

In the Spring of 2016, we celebrated Heartwood’s 25th anniversary. We marked the occasion with a party where we raised nearly $20,000 through a silent auction of student work and community donations. These generous contributions of Heartwood families and local businesses allowed us to create a large shelter and outdoor classroom space.

Christina Rose and Katie Hamister photographed the 25th Anniversary Silent Auction. Performers included Lynda and Jamie Dawson with Patrick Walsh of the Kickin’ Grass Band, and pianist James Catton.

Construction of the outdoor classroom took place over the summer, with a dedication ceremony held in November 2016. Named for Heartwood co-founder Mrs. Thelma Williams, the Darden House now serves as PE classroom and multi-purpose area, hosting chess matches, K’nex creations, and multi-classroom dodgeball games on a daily basis, as well as providing rainy-day alternatives for school assemblies and PSG meetings.
